Who doesn't want to sit in new cars?
No one would begrudge the chief minister this privilege. if when he change to Toyota Camry , he didn't made a cheap publicity out of it as is he the man who is fiscally prudent.
When the official car changed to Toyota Camry, state finance officer Datuk Mokhtar Mohd Jait described the decision as reflecting prudent expenditure.
The only things that grown by leaps and bounds in Penang under his stewardship since 2008 are the uncontrolled Housing bubble, the development density, the plot ratio, the developer's indecent profit, skyrocketing housing price, the development on hill slope, the clearing of forest and green, the conversion of leasehold to freehold, the sell of state asset especially state land, the number of white elephant mega projects, the state expenditure on non-necessities, the over budgeting , the eviction of people for development, the destruction of heritage buildings, the worsening traffic congestion, the dependency on roads and private vehicles, flash floods, land reclamation, the illegal encroachment on our hill, forest and sea, the rapid depleting of our land reserve, the disregard for public opinion, the censorship on journalists, the growing silence of the state legislature, the growing number of scandalous and controversial decisions and finally his super ego.
Now in less than two month he quietly change his spanking new Toyota Camry to Mercedes-Benz S300L. Now he cited safety as the reason the exco want him to have the Mercedes. "This is the decision made by exco… ". Guess his hands are tie again!
Whatever justifications he gave are just lame excuses for him to abuse his power and position especially after he boldly declare that Toyota Camry wil be the future official car to impress Penangites on how considerate he is.
Remember what Guan Eng said when he attacked the Terengganu state government over its Mercedes in his move to defend his decision to use Toyota Camry as the official cars.

Penang eyes Toyota Camrys for future official useSunday July 27, 2008 - The Star
GEORGE TOWN: Penang may purchase Toyota Camry cars for official use in the future, said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
He said Penang might buy the cars, which he said were cheaper than the Proton Perdana V6, after seeking approval from the Federal Government.
“Since Terengganu is allowed to keep 14 Mercedes-Benzes costing RM3.43mil, Penang should be allowed to buy Toyota cars in future,” he told reporters yesterday.
Lim described the decision to allow Terengganu to keep its Mercedes-Benzes to be used for foreign dignitaries only as inappropriate especially when many people were suffering during the economic slowdown.
“What's the regularity of foreign dignitaries visiting Terengganu? How often do even the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister or Sultans visit the state?
“If the cars are not going to be used often, what's the point of keeping them? This is an example of how public funds are misused by Barisan Nasional leaders,” he added.
Lim said he was surprised that no action would be taken against Terengganu for defying the federal directive, which states that the Proton Perdana is the official car for executive council members and ex-officio members.
In March, the new Penang government had cancelled an order for five new Perdana V6 cars worth RM623,000 ordered by the previous administration for its exco members.
Lim said: "Instead of buying new cars, we had cancelled the orders. Instead of buying new Perdanas, Terengganu had bought Mercedes Benzes.
"Who doesn't want to sit in new cars? However, I believe that as long as a car, even if it's an old boneshaker, can still move, that's good enough," he said, adding that his official car was 14 years old.
